Honduras to export tomatoes to the U.S.
Honduran tomatoes are set for U.S. entry after authorities from the two countries recently signed a protocol agreement, website Proceso.hn reported.
Honduran Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) chief Jacobo Regalado, told the website the protocol would allow for volumes of tomatoes that were grown under 'protected production' practices.
The allowed farming practice involves cultivation under netting in greenhouses, or different types of farming approaches that are not in open fields.
Regalado said the protocol was an important move for the Central American country, presenting a new market for Honduran growers.
