First container of Chilean Sweeki kiwifruit arrives in China
The first container of Sweeki kiwifruit from Chile has arrived in the port of southwestern Chinese port of Shenzhen.
The load is the first of the Italy-based Origine Group's shipment plan for the Asian markets, which will continue over the next few weeks.
"They will reach the markets of different Asian countries, where they will be sold until October, both loose and in clamshells, in small shops and in supermarkets," said Origine Group general manager, Alessandro Zampagna.
The Sweeki brand was created by the Origine Group, a consortium set up in 2015 by 10 leading fresh fruit and vegetable companies in Italy and Chile.
The Origine Group said the fruit follows tight quality standards, regarding sweetness, form and firmness, which are valid for both Italian and Chilean origins.
