Exotic fruit from the Philipinnes could soon be on U.S. shelves

The Philippines is poised to gain export entry for its fresh litchi, longan and rambutans to the U.S. within the next few months.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has decided the fruit does not pose a pest or noxious weed threat.
APHIS said providing the relevant phytosanitary steps were taken they did not see importation of the fruit would cause a problem.
The service has drafted a pest risk analysis availabe for comment and feedback by May 7.
