Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 11 – 2013 (March 15)

Avocados

In North America, the supply from California increased in the U.S. Prices increased for the Mexican supply.

In Europe, supplies were limited and the market was stable in terms of sales activity and prices.

Blueberries

In North America, the U.S. market had stable sales. There was a week-long delay in the Florida season.

In Europe, the market was strong for good quality supplies. The first sales were recorded in Spain and Morocco.

Grapes

In North America, the market was complicated due to the poor condition of grapes from Chile, especially for Flame Seedless. Green grapes did better but were not exempt from problems. There was a high portion of weak lots.

In Europe, the market still had a low supply level. Agile sales and upward prices were recorded for white seedless grapes, which had even smaller supplies.

In Asia, the market was stable and movement was good.

In Latin America, sales were stable in Colombia. In Brazil, there was greater supply out of Chile. Sales were generally moderate.

Stonefruit

In North America, nectarines and peaches had good movement in the U.S., while plum sales were still slow. The peach season was ending.

In Europe, sales were adequate for nectarines. The market for plums was notably pressed due to high volume, mainly from South Africa.

In Asia, the market for sugarplums and nectarines had adequate sales.

In Latin America, sales for plums were moderate in Colombia and Brazil.
