U.S.: Curry & Co teams up with Suncrest for Peruvian onion imports
Oregon-based Curry & Company has inked a partnership with Florida's Suncrest Produce Solutions to supply more than 200 containers of Peruvian sweet onions to the U.S. market this year.
Right now the company is in its Vidalia Sweet Onion program which will last until August, with Walla Walla sweets set to start in June.
In a release, the company said the Peruvian onions would be shipped this coming fall and winter.
Curry & Company president Matt Curry highlighted Suncrest's leaderhip in its Peruvian onion program, emphasizing this partnership would benefit retailers nationwide.
"Our customers want sweet onions year round and this partnership with Suncrest Produce strengthens our existing sweet onion program and will triple or even quadruple our Peruvian import volumes," he said.
Suncrest owner Jason Turner said his business' new partner had a good reputation in the industry.
"Retailers are eager for consistently sweet onions, and we have the right onions year round for their customer bases," he said.
