Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 25 – 2013 (June 21)

Apples

In North America, the U.S. market was stable.manzanas-verdes_62667682

In Europe, good sales activity was reported for bicolor apples, except for Fujis that showed less movement. In Russia, green varieties showed good sales rhythm while the Red Delicious market was quieter.

In Asia, low volumes of imported apple were reported in Chinese markets.

In Latin America, sales were moderate in Colombia for small-sized fruit due to school holidays. In Brazil, the market was slow.

Grapes

In North America, the season for fruit from the Southern Hemisphere season had finished.

In Europe, markets were under pressure due to high supply volumes and a slow sales pace. Prices were down for the Chilean offer. In the U.K., the Chilean season was over. In Russia, a slow sales rhythm was reported for Chilean Red Globes. Prices adjusted this week.

In Asia, quotes for the Chilean supply improved.

In Latin America, markets had moderate sales activity but prices remained stable.

Kiwifruit

In North America, the U.S. had a moderate and stable market for the Chilean supply.

In Europe, there was a low supply level, mainly from New Zealand. Prices were firm. In Russia, there was a good market for the Chilean supply. Prices rose.

In Asia, there were isolated lots of Hayward and Summer kiwifruit in Chinese markets.

In Latin America, a low supply with stable prices was reported in Colombia. In Brazil, moderate activity was reported.

Pears

In North America, imported supply had good movement. Prices were stable.

In Europe, sales were slow for Forelles with further price adjustments to maintain continuity. In Russia, there was a moderate market for Argentine Packham’s pears. In Asia, there was a greater supply of Forelles.

In Latin America, there was a good market for Chilean Packham’s pears reported in Colombia, while in Brazil activity was moderate for the Argentine supply.
