India-Afghanistan MoU brings horticultural trade possibilities
Trade promotion agencies from India and Afghanistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi this week, which looks set to imply a produce presence, website Smetimes.in reported.
The MoU was signed by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) director general Ajay Sahai and Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan CEO Najilla Habibyar, the story reported.
"A 10-member Business Delegation representing natural herbs, fresh fruit and dry fruit sectors from Afghanistan visited Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and met the Indian business community," an FIEO release was quoted as saying.
The story highlighted the MoU followed peaceful elections in Afghanistan, which meant the country was safe for business.
The document included an agreement to recommend and introduce new trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, stay in close contact, facilitate exchange visits and enhance the export capacity for processing and packing Afghan products.
