U.S.: Chiquita puts price tag on Charlotte exit
Produce multinational Chiquita Brands has announced the exit from its Charlotte headquarters will cost US$25-40 million in severance payments and refunds for government incentive packages, newspaper the Charlotte Observer reported.
The company told the publication the costs would also include relocation payments and the cost of exiting the Charlotte lease, which lasts until 2025.
The story added the total would include US$10-12 million in writeoffs or equipment improvement.
The Charlotte Observer added the incentive repayments were estimated at US$3 million.
