The figure represents a 10% increase over 2014, when volumes totalled 236,500MT.

The tropical fruit was sent to the U.S., Canadian and Japanese markets, according to the country's National Health Service, Food Safety and Quality (SENASICA).

The organization said the fruit had been produced across 87,714 hectares of land, in the states of Campeche, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca and Sinaloa.

The country's main market was the U.S., and SENASICA highlighted no pest detections had been made in any of the shipments.

The industry is now gearing up for the next season, which is set to begin in January.
