Peru looks to the blueberry
A seminar held in Lima this week brought together Peruvian business leaders to explore the potential of growing blueberries in Peru.
According to a report from Agraria.pe, Peruvian exporters are interested in replicating the success of grape exports and challenge the position of Chile and Argentina, the Southern Hemisphere’s principal blueberry suppliers to the world.
Currently only one Peruvian exporter, Intipa Foods, ships blueberries, mostly to the UK and Holland, the report said.
Inform@ción, a consultancy, hosted the seminar, which was held in Lima and featured speakers from Chile’s University of Concepción and the University of Pennsylvania in the US.
