Easy app makes home leafy green growing easy with Farm Cube
The Farm Cube is a fully enclosed ecosystem capable of growing hydroponic vegetables that doubles up as unique farming furniture for the home.
The OPCOM innovation is the latest of its kind, tapping into the trend for growing fresh produce indoors and was recently exhibited by the Taiwanese company at the Consumer Technology Association event CES 2016, in Las Vegas.
Once seedlings are planted inside, the Farm Cube uses automated systems for the growth cycles of the crop grown under LED lights.
Plants are monitored throughout different growing stages and the environment can be adjusted for ideal air, light and water conditions. Currently the Farm Cube is optimized to grow leafy greens, mainly lettuce varieties.
There are also cameras and sensors inside the Farm Cube and consumers can link up to their leafy greens using specially designed farm software and an app.
A spokeswoman for the OPCOM Group tells www.freshfruitportal.com that Farm Cube is making waves around the world with initial feedback looking promising.
"Our Farm Cube is getting a lot of attention right now and it a very hot new system on the market," she says.
"It’s an innovation for the consumer in their homes as well as for restaurants and hotels.
"We are popularizing the growing of hydroponic leafy greens and people can now do this in their own homes as well which is extremely fashionable."
