Chile earthquake leaves little trace
A 7.1 magnitude earthquake that shook Chile near the southern city of Temuco has left little to no damage or casualties, according to local media reports.
The epicenter of the earthquake was some 43 miles northwest of Temuco, and 370 miles south of the capital, Santiago. The quake struck at 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 2, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Despite causing panic along tsunami-prone coastal areas and slew of headlines, the quake is not expected to have an impact on international commerce.
