Colombia exported $5.6M in tropical fruit to Europe in 2010
Proexport Colombia has made its mark at international trade show Fruit Logistica 2011 in Berlin, displaying a wide range of exotic fruits such as dragon fruits, baby bananas and mangosteen, website Terra.com.co reported.
Proexport president MarÃa Claudia Lacouture told Terra that between January and November in 2010 the South American nation exported US$5.6 million of fruit to Europe, including pineapples, bananas, papayas, melons, curubayas, custard apples and rasberries.
The story said Colombian companies present included Frutales Las Lajas, Santana Fruits, C.I. Hass Colombia, Natturale, Wolf & Wolf, Inverfruits, Interfresh fruits, Comercializadora Internacional Frutireyes, Garden Herbs and Country Fruits.
Colombia is the third-biggest provider of bananas to the U.K. market, according to the Global Trade Information Service, the story reported.
