Israel-based Stockton STK is projecting a 'big future' in China after authorities from the Asian country granted approval for its Timorex Gold biofungicide. 

The company said registration had been obtained from the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture for the control on Powdery Mildew for strawberries and Early Blight on tomatoes.

The trademarked Timorex Gold product is used in conventional spraying programs for sustainable crop production.

The company said it presented a 'true alternative' for tomato and strawberry growers in China, as the natural fungicide enabled "chemical load reduction and is a highly effective resistance management tool."

Timorex Gold showed equal control of most diseases on many crops when sprayed under a joint program with conventional fungicides, according to Stockton.

 "China approval is an important milestone for Timorex Gold^® we project a big future in this market," Stockton CEO Guy Elitzur said.

"This is a significant confirmation of our product’s platform, paving the way for the flow of our new and innovative products and for sustainable crop protection."

Agriculture is a vital industry in China, employing over 300 million farmers, and the company noted registration approval in China will be a "very helpful tool" to support Chinese government agenda to reduce chemical pesticide and fertilizer application.

 "Our registration in China is extremely important for our Timorex Gold^®. We anticipate a great commercial future for our product in this significant market," Elitzur said.
