Sales to rise for organic fungicide in Peru
U.S. company Citrex Inc expects sales of organic fungicide Citrexvid to rise between 25% and 30% this year in Peru, driven by growth in the country's table grape sector, website Agraria.pe reported.
Agricultural division director René Amador told the website the fungicide focused particularly on preventing botrytis cinerea and sour rot.
"We have found a good acceptance because Peru is on the path to finding innovative alternatives," he was quoted as saying.
Since arriving on the Peruvian scene three years ago, Citrex has marketed its product on the grounds of 'rational' environmental control to keep a sense of balance when preventing pests.
"The indiscriminate use of chemicals has led to abuses of these chemicals and their useful life is shorter, so it's necessary to find alternatives," Amador was quoted as saying.
"Citrex points to a gradual change to ensure that healthy food that is free of chemicals can be obtained, but it ensures the profitability of the business."
