Strong Australian dollar worries fruit producers

Producers of fruit and other crops in Australia worry that their profits may be reduced if their currency reaches parity with the U.S. dollar, according to the Australian Broadcasting Co.´s abc.net.au.

The Australian dollar was worth 94.2 U.S. cents, its highest value since the 2008 economic crisis. It is forecast to reach parity by the end of the year.

Exports to Europe and Asia could suffer as a result, Robert Rennie of Westpac Bank told the website.
