Turners & Growers ships first kiwis grown outside New Zealand
New Zealand-based kiwi grower Turners & Growers Ltd. shipped its first load of kiwis grown outside the country in its continuing resistance to Zespri control of kiwi export, according to Radio New Zealand.
The red-fleshed kiwi variety, grown in France, Italy and China, has arrived Taiwan. The company also is introducing a green variety, grown in Greece, to Europe this year.
Earlier this year, Turners & Growers lost a lawsuit filed against kiwifruit marketer Zespri, accusing it of monopolistic export activities.
