Carrefour income up 6.7% in third quarter
French supermarket chain Carrefour reported third-quarter income of €25.6 billion (US $35.8 billion), a 6.7% rise compared with the same period last year.
The best sales results were seen in Latin America and Asia, where sales rose 34.3% and 26.3%, respectively.
In France, sales rose 0.8%. In the rest of Europe, sales fell 1.2%, with Spain showing a drop of 4.3% and Poland posting a rise of 4.7%.
“We are particularly satisfied by the strong sales in our emerging markets, such as China and Latin America, and by the encouraging signs of improvement in markets such as Belgium, Poland and Taiwan,” said Carrefour CEO Lars Olfsson.
