Chile increasing fruit shipments to Ukraine
Shipments of Chilean table grapes and kiwi will lead the range of fruits exported to the Ukraine, according to fruit statistics consultancy Fruit-Inform.
According to the consultancy, Chilean shipments to the eastern European nation should grow in the 2010-11 season from the current 7,000 to 8000 tons received annually. The increase in direct exports and improvements in logistics are largely responsible for the growth, according to a statement on the Ukrainian firm’s website.
Representatives from Chile’s fruit promotion agency will attend an event on October 26-28 in the expo “WorldFood Ukraine-2010.”
In addition to the Ukraine, Chile has also grown its footprint in Russia, increasing in particular the demand and placement of apples in retail chains.
