Chile forms cherry committee
Chile’s exporters association (Asoex) will form a Cherry Committee to help steer and organize its growing lot of cherry growers and exporters, an ASOEX contact confirmed to FreshFruitPortal.com.
The specific make-up of the committee and its members has not yet been identified and was announced at an association member only event held in Santiago this week.
The formation of the committee thus adds to a growing number of similar groups that are designed to improve the coordination of exporters and growers. Currently Chile has committees for blueberries, citrus, avocados, kiwi,
The cherry harvest is set to begin shortly in Chile and the total export volume is expected to grow some 60% compared to the previous year, FreshFruitPortal.com previous reported.
