Peru asparagus importers look for new opportunities
The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association (AIEP for its Spanish intials) has prepared a survey to identify opportunities and challenges facing the some 70 regional retailers of the product in the U.S., according to a statement.
The survey focuses on consumer buying habits, the evolution of added value solutions and purchasing patterns, among others. The data is designed to help U.S. asparagus importers navigate the retail market.
"The survey will help provide valuable information that will allow (importers ) to improve the current programs with retailers and their clients. It will also provide data on the interest and growth of the (produce) category and increase the consumption of fresh asparagus,” AIEP coordinator Priciliana Lleras said in the statement.
According to the statement more U.S. consumers are eating at home, a trend that is changing how distributors and importers must serve the market.
