CLARIFICATION: Chile blueberry exports to US to grow 28% on 2009-10 volume

Shipments of Chilean blueberries arriving to the US in the 2010-11 will likely top volumes from 2009-10 by more than 28%, according to a statement from the Chilean Blueberry Committee.
Furthermore at the end of 2010 the harvest is about 4% higher than previously forecasted, reaching 20,862 metric tons (MT). The harvest is now about one third complete, the statement said.
An estimate 82% of the blueberry crop will be shipped to the US, with a smaller portion heading to Europe and Asia.
The Chilean Blueberry Committee is part of the country’s fruit exporters association ASOEX and among its membership represents 87% of this year’s harvest, the statement added.
