Pear harvest starts in Argentina
The harvest of the Williams pear variety in Argentina has been scheduled for Jan. 10, a week later than expected due to rains, news agency Telam reported.
The harvest will start in the regions of Alto Valle, RÃo Negro and Neuquén after inspection from the country’s regional fruit ripeness program, the report said.
According to the report, the variety is showing larger sizes and better pressure than in the previous season.
Argentina’s fruit industry expects not only an increase in fruit sizes for this season, but also a 21% increase in pear volume compared to last season, FreshFruitPortal.com previously reported.
