Michoacán gets best practices certification
Mexico’s agricultural health and safety agency, Senasica, has certified four states as having best agricultural practices, according to newspaper Cambio de Michoacán.
The four states, Michoacán, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and Tamaulipas, can now use the designation in their overseas marketing and access those markets more easily.
The Association of Growers and Exporters of Avocados of Michoacán and Senasica invested 23 million pesos (US $1.9 million) for technical assistance and monitoring chemicals and microorganisms in water.
Michoacán has 75% of Mexico’s land dedicated to avocados and 40% for strawberries.
