Chile’s blueberry exports in week 3 lower than expected
Exports of Chilean blueberries reached 4,293 metric tons during week 3, about 1,000 MT less than the 5,297 MT estimated for the week, according to the Chilean Blueberry Committee, which used a report from fruit consultancy iQonsulting.
The 1,000 MT forecast for week 3 could not be sent because of the strike that affected the port at San Antonio during December. They were expected to be shipped the first day of week 4.
As far as weather, rains in southern Chile where the harvest is now centered did not reduce the collection pace. A slightly higher volume than predicted is being collected, which reflects the volume sent for freezing and juice.
Through week 3, Chile has exported a total of 41,405 MT, with the harvest 65% finished.
