Chile posts 2nd-biggest blueberry export volume in week 4

Blueberry exports from Chile reached 5,876 metric tons during week 4, the second-highest weekly volume this season, according to the Chilean Blueberry Committee, which used information from fruit consultancy iQonsulting.

Week 51 posted the biggest export volume, with 6,592 metric tons.

The week 4 figures were caused not by an increase in volume, but because of reformatting in week 3 and Monday of week 4.

Starting in week 5, the harvest will start to diminish. Activity in week 5 is expected to reach 4,000 MT. A chance of rain could affect volumes slightly.

The report says “according to the pattern of the accumulation of temperatures, the decrease in volumes should be slightly more pronounced than the two seasons before and therefore the pattern estimated at the beginning of the season.”

As of week 4, the cumulative total for exports is 47,281 MT, with progress at 74%.
