SA grape exports fall slightly in week 8

South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) data shows exports fell 2.6% in week 8, while volumes in the Berg River region were down between 10% and 15%.

The industry recorded a slight uptick of 514 cartons in exports to the U.K during the week, while shipments to South East Asia increased by 270% to 369,217 cartons.

Shipments to Northern Europe were down 12% to 1,439,376 cartons, but this was actually a significant improvement of 28.7% on the same period last season.

Cumulative shipping from South Africa now stands at 33,655,544 cartons for the season, with the final crop from the Oliphant's River region now packed and mid-season varieties reaching the end of their packing window in the Hex Valley region.
