Argentina to limit land sales to foreigners
Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has announced a bill to limit the sale of land to foreigners, in a bid to look after land jurisdiction and protect rural workers, website Ncn.com.ar reported.
The proposals were part of the government's new National and Popular Agricultural Powers (CANPO) group launch, which came as a result of a project raised in 2010 to help farm workers.
"By no means will the project have a biased xenophobia, because we're simply taking examples of other countries where there is respect for acquired rights, but respecting the state without many turns," Fernández was quoted as saying.
She said the initiative would "guard the jurisdiction of the land for it to continue as Argentinian, the story reported.
