Grape packing finished in South Africa
The South African Table Grape Industry (SATGI) has announced grape packing finished in week 19 with cumulative exports down 13% to 44,732,436 metric tons (MT) on the previous season.
Exports to the industry's largest destination market Northern Europe fell 13.8%, but exports to South East Asia actually grew 25.4% to 5,707,465MT.
Cumulative intakes fell for all of South Africa's major grape-growing regions except the Berg River, with slight growth of 3%.
Intakes for South Africa's largest grape-growing region Orange River fell 16.84% to 13,942,163MT.
