Argentine region records rise in apple and pear exports
Argentina's Alto Valle region in the provinces of RÃo Negro and Neuquén recorded an 18% uptick in apple and pear exports in May, compared to the same period in 2010, website Ansa.it reported.
The Northern Patagonian port terminal registered pear shipments of 267,337 metric tons (MT) while apple shipments were 110,526MT, representing rises of 21.39% and 10.82% respectively, the story reported
Port company San Antonio Este told the media agency that Russia continued to lead the rankings as the largest buyer of fruit and vegetables from the region with 113,958MT over the first five months of 2011.
The Netherlands received 48,294MT, Italy bought 37,316MT and Algeria purchased 25,464MT, the story reported.
