Mexico takes pole position in European blackberry market
Mexico has positioned itself as the largest provider of blackberries, chickpeas, concentrated orange juice and agave syrup to the European market, website Am.com.mx reported.
The story reported Mexican growers recently met with more than 120 European importers to discuss market trends and where the Central American country could find new opportunities.
Other products growers are looking to promote in Europe include limes, mangoes, asparagus, onions, tomatoes, pineapplees, legumes, chilli peppers, vanilla, honey, octopus and yellow fin tuna, the story reported.
The Ministry of Agriculture has forecast Mexico could export around US$900 million worth of food goods to Europe this year, representing a 60% rise since 2006.
