Australia's NSW stonefruit cream of the crop
Good rain and a cold winter are producing a plentiful harvest for Australian stonefruit growers in the state New South Wales, media agency the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported.
However, the region's peach and nectarine harvest has been delayed by a fortnight, the story reported.
Coopers Shoot Orchards manager Lynell Foster, told the ABC she was able to take advantage of firm prices before other regions of Australia began to pick.
"The fruit is looking magnificent. It's the best year I think we've had in nearly ten years. The rain just came at the right time," she was quoted as saying.
"Normally if it's too wet in the flowering season, the bees don't pollinate and it's not a good season. But so far it's been really good."
