Chile's blueberry harvests picks-up
Chile's blueberry exports climbed last week to 293 metric tons (MT) compared with 81 MT for the previous week, according to the Chilean Blueberry Committee's report, prepared by iQonsulting.
"In harvesting IV (Coquimbo) region continues steadily, however, the collection has been delayed by the morning fog which prevented an early start to the process affecting mainly coastal areas," it said.
The report predicted that next week Coquimbo region and V (Valparaíso) regions would reach their peak which represented a delay compared with the previous season.
The committee said the quality of fruit is good for both regions.
It said that rain in southern regions had not affected production although the full effects were still being assessed.
In week 45, Nov. 7-13, Chile had exported a total of 514 MT.
