Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 1— 2012 (Jan. 6)

Avocadoes

In North America, sales activity picked up for the New Year festivities.

In Latin America, the Chilean and Argentine markets were stable.

In Europe, stock levels of Hass increased.

Blueberries

In North America, the Argentine season has nearly finished with only a few last batches in circulation. Sales activity continued to be stable but price changes were registered due large volumes in circulation.

In Europe, there were moderate sales as was expected following the New Year celebrations.

Cherries

In North America, the quality and level of retail promotions increased.

In Latin America, the Brazilian market resumed normal actvity following the New Year festivities.

In Europe, sales were sufficiently high to achieve a suitable income stream.

In Asia, increased sales raised prices.

Table Grapes

In North America, the market reported an increase of activity but was still under pressure from high levels of red seedless grapes still in circulation.

In Latin America, moderate sales of Brazilian grapes continued.

In Europe, prices dipped because of the wide range of South African white seedless grapes available on the Continent and in the U.K.

In Asia, sales of imported Red Globe continued to be favorable.

Stonefruit

In North America, low availability of Chilean nectarines, peaches, plums and apricots favored prices.

In Europe, sales in Continental Europe and the U.K. were stable.
