Sharp rise for Peruvian grape exports in early 2012
Peruvian grape exports during January and February were up 22% year-on-year at US$7.7 million, website Agraria.pe reported.
Market consultancy Inform@cción data estimates an export volume to all destinations of 124,000 metric tons (MT) between October 2011 and April 2012.
It is expected 27,800MT will have been shipped to the U.S. over the period, followed by the Netherlands (20,600MT), Hong Kong (14,600MT), Russia (14,500MT), the Chinese mainland (7,200MT).
Inform@cción Fernando Cilloniz told the website Peru's grape export growth would be sustained this year due to new plantations in La Libertad, Lambayeque and Piura.
