Drop recorded for U.S. mango imports
A fall in Mexican arrivals helped drive a 14% fall in U.S. mango imports last week with a total of 1.91 million boxes, according to the National Mango Board (NMB).
The NMB reported a 13% drop in Mexican mango arrivals at 1.65 million boxes, but expected volumes from the southern neighbor to rise over the following two weeks to 2.249 million boxes and 2.57 million boxes respectively.
The largest percentage fall was seen with Guatemalan shipments at 38% at 98,784 boxes. The Central American country was forecast to ship just 5,280 boxes this week.
Haitian mango arrivals also fell by a 7% week-on-week at 160,245 boxes.
Prices for mangoes fell across the board across the main varieties and the three supplying nations noted in the report.
The NMB said the week's volumes were lower than previously forecast.
