Chile's blueberry exports have been higher than expected so far due to warmer temperatures in the early growing regions, with shipments reaching 47 metric tons (MT) until week 40.

A Chilean Blueberry Committee report shows exports of the fruit were more than four times what was estimated for week 40 itself, hitting 32MT instead of 7MT.

"Following this trend, 65MT were projected to be shipped on week 41 vs 18MT estimated for this week, as the high temperatures will remain in [the] IV (Coquimbo) Region," the report said.

The committee said a frozen blueberry exports fell from August to September when 996MT were shipped.

As far as the crop is concerned, rains were reported in Chile's south central zone during week 40. There was no significant freezing, but the committee will continue to monitor the low temperatures in the coming weeks.
