G6 Alliance offers new trans-Pacific port rotations
The G6 Alliance has announced new port rotations, including six services between Asia and the North American East Coast.
The alliance, formed in March 2012, originally sought to improve service between Asia and Europe. The new rotations will now incorporate North America starting in May.
The transpacific service plan will include 50 vessels with between 4,500 and 8,000 TEU of capacity.
30 ports will be connected between Asia, the U.S. and Canadian East Coast, Central America, the Caribbean, the Indian Sub-continent, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Three of the services will pass through the Suez Canal and the other three through the Panama Canal.
The alliance includes six shipping companies:Â APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line.
The port rotations will be as follows:
