Market situation in the Northern Hemisphere, week 12 – 2013 (March 22)

Avocados

In North America, the U.S. saw price increases for the Mexican offer.

In Europe, low supplies and high prices were reported.

Blueberries

In North America, the U.S. experienced price increases for fruit in good condition.

In Europe, arrivals from Chile were scarce. Prices were stable and sales suitable.

Grapes

In North America, the U.S. had pressure on Red Seedless. Bad condition forced some fruit to be destroyed.

In Europe, prices dropped for red varieties, but remained strong for White Seedless. In the U.K., the market maintained a low supply level and stable prices. In Russia, sales were suitable for  imported grapes.

In Asia, Peruvian Red Globes approached the end of the season, with good quality and high prices.

In Latin America,  active sales were seen  in Brazil for seedless grapes. A stable market was reported for Red Globes in Colombia.

Stonefruit

In North America, movement was slow for plums and nectarines. Peaches had better movement and low supply.

In Europe, the plum market had low pressure, although there was improvement from recent weeks. Nectarines continued on the same as before.

In Asia, sales were sufficient for nectarines and plums. Chile dominated the market for both products, followed by Australia.

In Latin America, there were price adjustments for nectarines and plums in Brazil.
