NZ: Zespri supply chain general manager to stand down
New Zealand kiwifruit exporter Zespri has announced its second executive resignation within the space of three weeks, with supply chain GM Sally Gardiner set to finish up with the company at the end of the 2014 season.
The announcement comes shortly after CFO Merv Dallas' decision to leave the marketer, at a time when the company is under investigation from New Zealand's Serious Fraud Office.
In a statement, Zespri CEO Lain Jager said Gardiner's contribution and commitment to the industry had been immense and she would leave with the best wishes and full support of the company as she sought new professional opportunities.
"Sally's experienced leadership and steady hand have been invaluable to Zespri and the wider industry during her six seasons as the head of supply chain, in what is a very demanding and critical industry leadership role," Jager said.
"Including her previous roles within Zespri, Sally has worked for the company for 13 years and has been involved in the wider kiwifruit industry for 16 years in total, and is highly respected across the industry."
Gardiner will have completed six years in the executive role when she leaves the company,
Jager highlighted her notice period was generous, allowing for the recruitment of a successor in time for the 2015 season.
