Chile: Hortifrut combines with Argentine blueberry player
Chilean berry company Hortifrut has announced a new partnership with Argentine fruit business Expofresh, along with its associated growing units in Tucumán - Tierra de Arándanos and Tierra de Berries.
In a joint release, the two companies said the goal of the alliance was to develop exclusive varieties and be leaders in the supply of high quality, early blueberries, while bringing together a "great team of growers" and finding logistical and operational synergies.
"This important partnership allows us to work together to strengthen the security of high quality early blueberry supply from Argentina to Hortifrut's commercial platforms and its strategic customers, who will enjoy a better product and delivery service, which will mean more satisfied consumers," Hortifrut general manager Nicolás Moller said in a release.
"We are very proud to be working with Expofresh in Argentina, a company with a large team that works in an exceptional manner."
Expofresh president Luis D'Andrea was also very optimistic about the new project.
"For our company it is inspirational what Hortifrut is doing in this industry, and therefore, planning a future together with them is challenging, while sharing synergies and accessing better genetics for Argentine production encourages us to grow," D'Andrea said in the release.
"Argentina is a great country for producing and has very professional growers; however, the blueberry industry is relatively new, and companies like those that are forming help sustain the growth of the sector, and Hortifrut is a company that has great respect from the growers."
