The announcement was made last week during a foreign investment visit by Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís to the U.S.

Dole announced it would double its payroll in the major banana and pineapple-producing country by creating an additional 150 jobs, according to the story.

The new posts are reportedly aimed at increasing the size of its shared service center and strengthening focus on its European operations.

President Solis claimed Dole had invested more than US$100 million in Costa Rica in 2014 alone, which he said confirmed the company's confidence in the country's future.

"One of our goals in this tour is to introduce several companies with the commitment and support foreign investment directly. I am pleased that this is already taking shape with new investments and more quality jobs," Solis was quoted as saying.

Head of Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Trade (Comex), Alexander Mora, reportedly said Dole's service center provided global support in administrative, financial and technological areas.
