Polish apple exporters look to Indonesia
The Polish Ministry of Agriculture is making headway in developing possible new markets for the country’s abundance of apples with a recent series of trade talks with Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
Almost one year after Russia first banned European imports of fresh produce, Polish authorities, like many other EU countries, are still trying to find alternative markets for key exports.
This week Poland’s Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki met with ambassadors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss expanding current export/import campaigns between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the ministry also hosted a delegation from the Indonesian parliament interested in setting up a mutually beneficial deal to import Polish apples.
"Poland is interested in diversification of export destinations for agri-food products. We are able to export high quality products to both conventional and organic markets," a ministry statement said.
"The market in Indonesia is extremely interesting for us and we are counting on the Indonesian side for their readiness to be more open to great Polish food.
"Indonesian guests also stressed that a clear chance to come onto the market in Indonesia is Polish apple juice, with its unique taste sure to find favor among consumers of this country."
