U.S.: Awe Sum Organics begins Northern Hemisphere kiwifruit season
U.S.-based Awe Sum Organics has begun marketing California and Italy-origin kiwifruit, marking the close of the Southern Hemisphere deal.Â
The company said all its kiwifruit was carefully monitored while on the vine to assure high dry matter and full maturity at harvest.
These production standards are followed by every grower in Awe Sum Organics’ year-round organic kiwifruit program.
"Our reliably sweet organic kiwifruit combined with promotions are a great way to create growth of the Organic Kiwifruit Category," Awe Sum Organics president and CEO David Posner said.
"We offer a variety of pack styles, including; one pound bags, one and two pound clamshells, 1-layer trays, volume fill cartons and mini bins, as well as special packs for custom and private label programs."
A release from the company highlighted a serving of the 'immune-boosting' fruit has more vitamin C than an orange, more potassium than a banana and is a major source of folate, fiber and enzymes.
There is a huge opportunity for the growth of kiwifruit sales in the U.S. because kiwifruit ranks as the 23rd most widely consumed fruit in the US compared to the 11th most widely consumed fruit worldwide, according to the company.
As a way to reduce its carbon footprint, Awe Sum Organics fulfills orders on the East Coast with its organic Italian kiwifruit, while orders on the West Coast are filled with their California-grown fruit.
