U.S., Peru form binational blueberry council
North and South American blueberry industry representatives have come together to form an association, with the aim of fomenting cooperation, trade and investment for the antioxidant-rich fruit, website Andina.com.pe reported.
The United States and Peruvian Blueberry Council (USPBC) is expected to play an important role in boosting trade between the two countries, according to Peruvian Blueberry Growers Association (ProArandanos) president Miguel Bentín, who is also a co-chair of the new group.
"Bilateral trade will improve through supporting forms of blueberry imports and exports, from Peru to the United States and vice versa," Bentín was quoted as saying.
The council is made up of companies including Naturipe, Driscoll's, Camposol, Talsa, Hortifrut and industry group ProArandanos.
