NatureFresh launches TOMZ snacking tomato program
Canada-based NatureFresh Farms has launched its new TOMZ-branded snacking tomato, in response to increasing demand for local produce with consistent quality throughout the year.
"Our snacking tomato line has been expanding each year as we continue to bring new varieties to market. As a vertically integrated grower & marketer, we are able to maintain a greater level of quality in what we pick, pack, and ship to our customers," retail account manager Matt Quiring said.
"Our tomato growing philosophy allows us to produce a better quality product which ensures we are delivering an overall better eating experience for the consumer.
"By launching the TOMZâ„¢ Snacking Tomato line, we are giving customers & consumers alike, a program that caters to all of their taste preferences with locally grown tomatoes, 12 months a year."
The company currently operates 130 acres in Leamington, Ontario and 15 acres in Delta, Ohio with 30 more acres in Ohio coming online by November.
NatureFresh said creating a category-wide brand like TOMZ that includes red, yellow, orange grape tomatoes as well as red cherry, sweet cocktail and medley tomatoes, enabled it to market locally grown tomatoes year-round under one label.
Grown currently in Leamington, production of all TOMZ items will shift to Delta this fall.
NatureFresh started shipping the new TOMZ-branded snacking tomatoes to all of their retail partners the week of June 20.
The organization is currently building a new 180-acre production facility on Ohio, with Phase 1 comprising 15 acres having been completed late last year. Phases 2 and 3, each covering the same amount of land are now under construction and will be completed later this fall.
