Canada: European Runner Beans season coming up at Orangeline
Greenhouse grower Orangeline Farms is gearing up for its European Runner Bean season as part of its 'Zing! Healthy Foods' line.
The company claims it was the first company to re-introduce the beans to North America in 2013.
In a release, Orangeline said the beans had a sweet crunch and an enormous amount of health benefit, giving consumers 15% of their daily recommended fiber in a typical serving.
"Foodies can delight in these beans since they're so versatile," said VP of sales and marketing Jordan Kniaziew.
"They always have a dedicated spot on my BBQ, and I cook them like I would asparagus. A coating of olive oil, lightly seasoned and dusted with some freshly grated parmesan."
He said demand for the unique beans was at an all-time high, so Zing! Healthy Foods made sure it had supply available virtually year-round.
"You could literally watch the stalks grow, in a short 4 week span they have grown well over 12' high; every day I'm amazed when I check the crop," Kniaziew said.
"Our team is excited to get these to market and in homes while continuing the momentum we've had in North America."
