Driscoll's announces new president for largest business unit
U.S.-based berry company Driscoll's has announced that Soren Bjorn has been promoted to president of Driscoll’s of the Americas, effective immediately.
Bjorn previously served as executive vice president of the business division, a role he assumed in 2013 when the company announced organizational changes to support its global growth strategy. In this role, Bjorn continues to lead the largest business unit for Driscoll’s.
“Soren’s decade of work across different roles within Driscoll’s enables him to bring an incomparable wealth of experience and knowledge to his position,” Driscoll's CEO Kevin Murphy said in a release.
“His promotion is a true reflection of his longstanding leadership within the brand and we look forward to his continued success in leading the growth of a critical business unit for the company, in the years to come.”
The company said that in the ten-plus years Bjorn has worked at the company, he had successfully led several key business units.
He served as the company’s first senior vice president of International Business and was responsible for oversight of Driscoll’s European, Middle Eastern and African businesses, an Australia-based joint venture and a new start-up venture in China.
In addition, Bjorn has led Driscoll’s global research and breeding programs, which focus on developing proprietary seedlings.
Prior to working with Driscoll’s, Bjorn spent six years with Del Monte Foods in San Francisco and also held the role of president and CEO for UniMark Foods.
