Honduras anticipates record banana exports for 2017
With less than a month to go until the end of the year, the Honduran banana industry believes it is on track to hit record exports of US$520 million.
Website La Prensa reported that was the view of leading players within the sector, who also noted that conditions this year had been favorable both domestically and internationally.
Exports of the fruit last year totaled US$509, according to figures from the Central Bank of Honduras.
Some think there could even be a larger year-on-year boost of US$11 million, as by the end of September this year exports had reached US$379.9 million compared to US$358.6 million at the same time last year.
The U.S. is the leading market for Honduran bananas.
