Fresh Del Monte Produce (NASDAQ: FDP) has opened its first F&B (food and beverage) store in Qatar, offering healthy alternatives at the Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha. 

In a release, HIA said it catered to more than 30 million passengers annually, and the new Del Monte store on Concourse A would provide a combination of ultra-fresh juices, smoothies and freshly made salads, sandwiches, wraps and muffins.

"The growing trend for healthier snacks and on-the-go food has opened up a new market catering for the health-conscious," said Del Monte operations manager for the Middle East and North Africa, Wissam Baghdadi.

"We want to encourage everyone to make healthy choices, whether that means a high-protein wrap, an ultra-fresh juice or a protein-rich salad," he said.

"Qatar is no exception to the rising demand of healthy food and is a priority market for Del Monte®. We are looking forward to catering to HIA 30 million passengers and are proud to team up with a world class airport."

HIA's VP commercial and marketing Abdulaziz Al Mass said the airport was continuously investing a lot of efforts to improve its hospitality offering to passengers transiting through from all parts of the world.

"Diversity of food and beverage is part of the dining experience offered by HIA. We are conscious that healthly food is extremely important for travellers on-the-go and are glad to welcome the first Del Monte® F&B store in Qatar at the airport," he said.
